KS2 Class Information - Term 5

After a long, well-earned break, it’s time to get back to work. This term, as always, is going to be a busy one! Our new topic for this term is ‘Burps, Bottoms and Bile’, where we will be exploring the human body, identifying different parts and looking at their function in ensuring we life a healthy life. As well as this, we have got an important week for year 6 children this term, where they will be taking their SATs tests. With the warm weather and sunshine becoming ever more frequent, please remember to bring water bottles, sun cream and hats to help you in the sun.

Important Information for this term:

SATs:

Monday 13th May – Spelling Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG)

Tuesday 14th May – Reading

Wednesday 15th May – Arithmetic and Reasoning Paper 1 (Maths)

Thursday 16th May – Reasoning Paper 2 (Maths)

PE:.

  • As always, we have PE for an hour every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Please have PE kits in school for these days.
  • Year 3 and 4 children shall be swimming every Tuesday morning. Please remember to bring appropriate swimwear and a towel.

Golden Time:

  • Every Friday afternoon before assembly, children will be rewarded for their hard work in the week with up to 30 minutes of free ‘golden’ time. In return, we encourage children to read at home at least 3 times a week. Even if only for 10 minutes, regular opportunities to read to loud can improve confidence and fluency. Every time your child does read, put your signature in their home school diary.

Homework:

  • Children are given homework every Friday to take home. All homework set for children supports learning that has occurred in class. We have informed children that we like  to have homework back in school every Wednesday. If children have any questions regarding their homework, feel free to speak to any of the KS2 team.
  • Spelling – encourage children to practise their spellings at home. Even just 10 each night could have a big impact.
