We are getting stuck into our new topic of Dinosaurs in EYFS and Year 1. The Year 1s are writing dinosaur fact files, and Reception and Nursery are exploring what dinosaurs look like and where they live.

Our butterflies have hatched! Over the holidays the catterpillars went home with Mrs Pickering and hatched into 5 beautiful butterflies which were released. The class were so happy to see the photos and videos of them.

This term we are looking at growing and minibeasts. We have read The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and looked at butterfly life cylces, and we are very excited to welcome our own little caterpillars to the classroom! We can't wait to see them grow and change, and to release them once they have turned into butterflies.

NEWS AND EVENTS

Woodside 1

To learn more about our topic of "animals" we went on a trip to Woodside Wildlife Park. We loved seeing all the animals, and watching the big cats being fed and we even got to stroke a snake! The children made us so proud with their behaviour and manners on our day out.

AUTUMN TERM 2

class news and events

This term we have been getting ready for Christmas! Here are some of the activities that we got up to:

We were so excited to vistit Nightgale Nursing Home in Bucknall and to sing Christmas carols with them. The whole school had worked hard to make each resident a card and Christmas ornament, and we spent the afternoon chatting with the residents, playing games and showing them our repetoire of Christmas songs. 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' was a particular favourite!

This year Infant Class had the very important job of choosing the school Christmas tree. We visited Red House Farm at Waddingworth, and after a bit of searching and deciding found the perfect tree for the school hall.
