SPRING TERM 1

NEWS AND EVENTS

Woodside 1

This term we went on a very cold but exciting trip to Woodside Wildlife Park. The children loved seeing the penguins and big cats being fed, and we even got to stroke a snake! We were so proud of the children's excellent behaviour on the trip, and so impressed by the Years 1 recount writing of our day out. We can't wait to do another class trip soon, although we wouldn't mind if it was a little bit warmer next time!

We have learnt about Chinese New Year, and different ways that it is celebrated. We made our own dancing dragon, and held our own Lunar New Year party, with decorations, food and dancing. The children enjoyed tasting the delicious Chinese food, although we found the chopsticks a bit tricky!

AUTUMN TERM 2

class news and events

This term we have been getting ready for Christmas! Here are some of the activities that we got up to:

We were so excited to vistit Nightgale Nursing Home in Bucknall and to sing Christmas carols with them. The whole school had worked hard to make each resident a card and Christmas ornament, and we spent the afternoon chatting with the residents, playing games and showing them our repetoire of Christmas songs. 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' was a particular favourite!

This year Infant Class had the very important job of choosing the school Christmas tree. We visited Red House Farm at Waddingworth, and after a bit of searching and deciding found the perfect tree for the school hall.

As part of Reception's topic of 'People who help us', we welcomed Bardney Firefighters and their fire engine. They showed us around the engine, and their equipment. They answered our many questions about attending emergencies and being a firefighter, and even put on their lights and sirens!
